Founder & Lead Developer

Tom Naylor

Tom is the founder and lead developer of Arkiden. His interest in software began at 12, and he later worked in accounting and audit before establishing the business. He now designs and builds websites and bespoke software, alongside the content and ongoing support those projects need.

01

Bringing business experience into development

Numbers have always come naturally to Tom. Accounting gave him an understanding of how businesses manage transactions, costs and reporting. Audit involved examining the records behind the figures, checking how processes worked and identifying where errors could occur.

That experience is useful when building business software. A system may need to calculate a price, track a payment, maintain customer records or produce a report. Each task depends on the right information being recorded and used correctly.

Tom approaches development with those details in mind. He considers what information people need, how it moves through the business and where a system could reduce repeated work. His accounting and audit background helps him understand why a process exists before deciding how to improve it.

02

Taking an idea through to a working product

Tom founded Arkiden because he wanted to make development his main work. He enjoys building something he can see and test, working through problems and reaching the point where someone can put it to use.

His role covers content, design and development. He writes the words, designs the pages and builds the website or software. During the build, he shares working demos with clients so they can try the features, give feedback and help shape the result.

He values straightforward conversations and explains his work in terms clients can understand, so they can make informed decisions about their project.

03

Looking after the work after launch

Tom remains involved through hosting, maintenance, updates and further development. Security forms part of that work, including how information is handled, how access is managed and how the software is maintained.

Seeing a project in everyday use also helps him understand what needs improving. As clients’ requirements change, he continues working with them to adapt and develop what he has built.
